Feng Shui Tips for Bedroom
A bedroom is your comfort place. It should bring you peace and a balanced flow of energy that helps you recharge.
Therefore, here are some tips for you to enhance your bedroom’s Feng Shui:
In Feng Shui, Chi is the energy that flows through all objects and space in your home. Chi needs to move freely, therefore it is important to keep your space clean and clutter free to prevent chi from stagnating which can bring bad health and wealth luck. Once you have done so, positive energy can flow and you will regain strength, feel optimistic and energized.
In Feng Shui, All energies (Chi) fall into either a Yin or Yang category. In a bedroom, the Yin energy plays a more important role than Yang, unlike your office. Too much Yang energy (bright lights, red color, dragon figurine etc) can cause restlessness which may lead to negative effects on your sleeping patterns. However, also make sure that it’s not too Yin or else you will feel lethargic during the day.
Position your bed as far as possible from the door because chi needs to move freely between window and door to have a balanced flow of energy in your room. Also, you should not sleep in line with the door because it can expose you to too much chi which could also contribute to restlessness and irritability.
Do not place a mirror directly across a window or door as it will reflect and bounce the energy (chi) back. Also do not place a mirror or reflective objects such as TV facing your bed as it can manifest health problems. If that can’t be avoided, use a cloth to cover it.
Make sure that you have a wall or strong headboard behind your bed as it symbolizes a strong support (靠山 kào shān). Having this will ensure that you have support from the people around you in every aspect of your life.
Do not place your bed under a beam in the ceiling as it will direct the flow of energy on you. This is known as Sha Chi (煞气) or killing energy which can be very detrimental to one’s health and well being.
When sharing a bed with another person, keep the bed in the middle of the wall to allow even flow of chi to both of you. When the bed is against the wall on one side, the person sleeping there may not receive enough chi which can affect his/her well-being.
If you also use your bedroom as an office, move it to another part of the house if possible because the energies from your workplace and bed are opposing energies and incompatible that will only clash with each other.
