All About Pi Xiu in Feng Shui - Wealth & Protection

What is Pi Xiu?

Pi Xiu (Chinese: 貔貅; pinyin: píxiū) or Pi Yao, also known as Tian Lu, is a Chinese mythical auspicious creature with the fierce looking of a dragon head, horse body and unicorn claws. It Is well known for attracting wealth and good fortune to homes and businesses, therefore it is important to carry one with you. Whether it is in the form of a bracelet, pendant, or statue, any is believed to have almost the same power in raising fortunes.

 

 

Here are some reasons why you should own a Pi Xiu:

1. Guard Home and Ward off Evil Spirits

Displaying a Pi Xiu at home, whether it is in the form of a bracelet, pendant, or statue can protect everyone in your household and ward off evil spirits.

2.  Acquire and Preserve Wealth

In ancient China, many casinos and windfall venues would display Pi Xiu to gather wealth. In modern times, more and more businessmen choose to put a Pi Xiu in company or at home to gather wealth in view of the intense market competition. It is said that wearing a Pi Xiu can attract direct and indirect wealth.

According to the ancient Chinese sages, fate is predestined but fortune can be changed. Two Types of Pi Xiu - Male and Female

In ancient times, there were male and female Pi Xiu. The male was named 'Pi' while the female 'Xiu' and they had different meanings. The male Pi Xiu was meant for attracting wealth while the female for preserving wealth.

In modern times, you can choose to own just one Pi Xiu, either male or female will be fine. If you are looking to buy a pair of Pi Xiu for you and your partner, there will be rules on the head orientation. Face its tail and check which side its head leans. It's said that male Pi Xiu leans towards the left while the female leans towards the right.

 

 

However, there are some do’s and don'ts one must take note when owning a Pi Xiu. Here are some examples:

  1.  For statues, It is good to position it facing your main door. For bracelets and pendants, it is good to position it facing the windows in your living room.
  2.  It must not be placed in the bedroom, especially facing the bed because it is believed that the Pi Xiu will grab the wealth energy back to where it is positioned and it may affect the owner’s sleeping quality. 
  3.  It must not be placed facing the toilet because it is a place of filth, which is considered as disrespectful to the creature.
  4.  It must not be not positioned higher than the owner’s head, because it symbolizes the Pi Xiu will have power over the owner .
  5.  It must not be placed near or facing directly towards the mirror, because it signifies chasing the Pi Xiu away.
  6. Do take note to not place cash notes into the mouth of your Pi Xiu because it is a form of disrespect. This is due to the fact that Pi Xiu is only attracted to real gold and silver.
  7. It is important to not touch the eyes and mouth of the Pi Xiu unnecessarily because it uses them to seek wealth for its owner.
