Legend of the Thousand Hands Guan Yin
Guanyin (Chinese: 觀音) is the most commonly used Chinese translation of the bodhisattva known as Avalokiteśvara. Guanyin is the Buddhist bodhisattva of compassion also known as the Mercy goddess.
The Chinese name Guanyin is short for Guan Shi Yin, which means "The One Who Perceives the Sounds of the World." On the 19th day of the 6th lunar month, Guan Shi Yin's attainment of Buddhahood is celebrated.
Out of all her manifestation forms, the Thousand-Armed manifestation of Guanyin is the most powerful & recognized.
According to Ancient Chinese Mythology, Guan Yin made a vow to never rest until she had freed all sentient beings from the cycle of rebirth. Despite all her efforts, she realized that many life forms that were yet to be saved. Amitabha Buddha then blessed Guan Yin with an additional eleven heads to empower her with wisdom and intelligence to help humanity overcome challenges in their lives (career, health and relationships).
With that, Guan Yin continued her noble mission to help her devotees achieve financial freedom and success while maintaining good health and harmony. However she realized she still has limited capacity to do so.
The Buddha Amitabha further blessed her with a thousand hands to empower her to spread her divine blessings to all devotees from all over the world. Each hand holding a powerful holy item.
